The Eye

The Fears In Mythology - The Eye

Rashnu, Mithra and Sraosha – The Three judges that pass judgement on a soul after it has died. (Zoroastrianism)

Peklenc – Lord of the Underground and divine judgement. He is portrayed as being firm but fair, as he provides people with a chance to redeem their past mistakes. The ones who persist are condemned according to their crimes, the cruel are turned into stone, the quarrelsome into werewolves and the ones with no compassion for others are turned into creatures feeding on their very bodies. (Slavic Mythology)

Katonda – Judge of the universe (Buganda mythology)

Saint Peter – Keeper of the keys to heaven. Guards the pearly gates of heaven, decides whether you are allowed in. (Christianity)

Underworld (not the band) – The soul appears in front of three judges, Rhadamanthus, Minos and Aeacus. (Greek Mythology)

Dike – Spirit of moral justice. (Greek Mythology)

Rapture – Taking the Islamic faith as an example (don’t worry, this isn’t going to be some EDL inspired rant) everyone is summoned up for rapture, even if they are dead. they are then  judged. The idea of rapture exists in many religions but to list them all would take a long time and deserve a blog of its own.

Maat (or Mayet) – The Egyptian goddess that regulated the stars, season and the actions of both the mortals, and the deities. She would judge the soul when it was in Duat (the Egyptian Underworld). If the heart was lighter than her feather (I don’t even…) it meant that the deceased had lead a respectable and virtuous life and would go to Aaru. If the heart weighed more than her feather it would be consumed by the goddess Ammit, and remain in Duat for ever!   (Egyptian Mythology)

Yama – God of death. Depending on how well someone followed there life’s duties, they would be either punished or rewarded In there next reincarnation. (Hinduism)

I know there are many more, but this is all there was on the piece of paper, if you really want to you can leave a list of all my failures in the comments and lambast be there! Apologies for any errors, I am in a bit of a rush, and my keyboard is broken.

Thanks for reading

Eric.
